When discussing World War Two we tend to hyper focus on the Natzi government, and for good reason. They were, after all, the main ideology behind much of the chaos, brutality and evil that washed over the globe. Hitler’s systematic and organized approach of dealing with all those who did not fit the mold of the “purified future” he was seeking touched the twisted minds of other leaders as well. The Natzi ideology was not eradicated when WW2 ended. It was Natzi hunters, like Simon Wisenthal, and the young Israeli state that made sure to keep fighting this ideology and not fall prey to the illusion that antisemitism, the desire to kill all Jews no matter where they are, has magically disappeared with the falling of Hitler. Hitler’s vision for a world that is “purified” from anyone that was not standing up to his standards of what a human being should be has not passed with him, like the majority of the world preferred to think it was.

We forget a few very important things about that time period:

  1. Too many people were happy to join and help Hitler’s mission. While some might have felt like they had no choice, for many this was just an outlet for their own personal anger and frustration about their own life’s situation -- choosing the Jewish people and other vulnerable individuals as their scapegoat; a socially and politically appropriate victim that all agreed could be brutally and publicly abused. It was ordinary people who did the worst of deeds. If humanity can fall that low once -- do not think for a moment that it will not do it again, if given the opportunity.

  1. It was both right-wing and left-wing politics that caused the global chaos. While some might think that the Natzi is a right-wing extreme group, we allow ourselves to neglect the fact that being extreme, on either side of the political spectrum, is a huge problem. It was more extreme left-wing countries that had no problem to either support or stand by the Natzi regime. Being a “leftists” or “democrate” does not mean you are immune to falling into the same patterns -- the extreme on the right and the extreme on the left actually work well together as they temporary turn a blind eye to what they disagree on, as they unite their energy and intensity to terrorize and fight the majority into submission and obedience to their extreme approaches. This has already happened for the last decade (at least), and the entire world is seeing the outcome of this fatal marriage of convenience which is bound to explode at some point.

  1. Most of those in the middle political spectrum; the majority that actually wants to live in peace and allow others to live in peace -- this majority tends to be silent. By being silent this majority allows the extreme groups to take over and break, piece by piece, everything that we have built in the modern, western, democratic societies. These are societies that we built on the backs of many injured soldiers, and many soldiers and civilians who died fighting to have the ability to live in our imperfect democratic societies. We did not get here without needing to fight for our right to live in peace. Are we really going to sit back silently and let similar forces come into our countries and try to break all the hard work and sacrifice of our grandparents and their grandparents?

To better understand how this type of bond between the two extremes happen, let us reflect on the most unlikely of unions, between a country we all believe is the most peaceful country, and a terror politically run government. This “case study” is a sample of a phenomenon that can be observed around the world. However, to best understand this phenomena, the particular historical background of Canada paints a clear picture to how the most peaceful of people and peaceful of governments can find themselves working side by side with terrorists, all while they are sure they are doing “the right thing.”

1812 -- a war between the United States and the United Kingdom which turned Canada into what it is today.

1948 -- the year Israel was declared as an independent country, setting up the backdrop to the “Palestinian” mess that we find ourselves in today.

The war of 1812 was fought between the United States and the United Kingdom. For the purpose of our discussion, I will provide an oversimplification of what happened in that war: those who wished to side with the United States stayed in the “south” and all those who were fighting for the United Kingdom, referred to as the loyalists, ran “north.” This separation of those who fought for the US and those who fought for the UK created the two countries we know today, the US and Canada.

Canada, in essence, is created by those who did not want to fight against the UK. The loyalists were simply loyal to their kingdom. They did not share the same outlook that the US has, of creating a country that is separate and detached from the hold of the UK.

I believe that this separation was not only a political separation between the US and the UK. This was a personal ideology that soldiers had; are we loyal to the UK or not. Are we going to rise up against the UK or are we going to stick to the desire to follow the rule of a kingdom that is not even touching the shores of our land? Each soldier had to face the decision -- am I loyal to my kingdom or not.

Those happy to set up for a new and adventurous life, fought for independence. Those who wanted to keep things as they are and not “rock the boat” ended up in Canada.

Fast forward a few generations, and you get individuals, families, communities and governments that are either trying to keep innovating and finding new ways to advance and improve through conflict, or a government that seeks to advance in peaceful ways -- always trying to avoid unnecessary conflicts.

However, the downside of a society that is geared towards always searching for peaceful ways and trying to avoid any potential conflict, is that at the end, peacefulness is kept as the outer garment of the country, while the reality is that the majority of the country and all its citizens is simply to avoid conflict.

Peacefulness and conflict avoidance are not the same things.

Having true peace means being able to go through all the difficult needed conversations. It means managing to get to the other side of a discussion with a plan that is deeply and truly accepted by everyone. It means accepting compromises.

Conflict avoidance is when it appears as though we are peaceful, because we constantly work to keep everything peaceful. Yet we do not do this through understanding the needs of all sides, we do it by not healing the depth of the issues, and we do what we can to sweep every problem under the rug, hoping no one will notice it. When we live in a culture that prefers to avoid conflicts, we teach our society that everything will work out if we just stay quiet for long enough.

While the idea that most problems find ways to resolve themselves in peaceful ways over time, staying silent and ignoring the problems does not actually work, not for us as individuals and not for us as societies and governments.

The avoiding conflict mentality led to the WW2 policy about Jews escaping the death camps trying to port their ship in Canada; the official statement was “one is too many” and the boat was sent back to Europe.

Ironically, it was the same conflict avoidance tendency that later led to allowing Natzis trying to flee Europe come and live peacefully in Canada without any accountability, even though Canada did fight against them in WW2.

When an entire country adopts a mindset of conflict avoidance, it does not cultivate peace; it invites manipulators to take advantage of the system. Conflict avoidance overlooks those who truly do need help only because helping the needy and the abused will mean creating conflict with the abusers.

A country that wishes to avoid conflict will always side with the abuser, because it is safer, easier, and leads to less conflicts in the short run. It also leaves the country in a losing battle, as it is only a matter of time before the abuser turns against them.

1948 -- the year Israel was declared as an independent state. This event is known to the ‘non-Israeli’ locals as a horrible day. This is considered to be such a travesty for Jew-Israel-Zion haters, that they have an official day to mourn the establishment of the state of Israel.

To be clear, nothing was taken from them at the time. It is the idea that an Israeli-Jewish state will be established that was (and still is) so unacceptable to them.

Before the declaration of the state of Israel, there were just Palestinian people. Every Jew was considered a Palestinian person. The documents, the coins -- they had written on it in Hebrew: “Palestine, the land of Israel”. This is important because there was no "Palestinian people” until the Arab nations decided to open a war against Israel, as soon as it was established. This war, they believed, will be over so fast -- after all, they are many large countries, and Israel was a new country, with such few people relative to them. The miraculous loss only hurt their egos, and fueled their desire to avenge the Israeli lack of willing to simply be defeated and die. And thus, this war has been going on for many decades with the sole purpose of the entire destruction of the land of Israel, and killing all Israelis in it (Jews, Christians, Arab, and more).

Like in Canada, when we separate two groups of people by an artificial border, they are left to educate their following generations each in their own way. This creates an interesting point of comparison of how societies evolve.

In 1948, Israel immediately started building, improving, creating and finding ways to flourish, grow, and create a better future for itself. After the holocausts, it was clear, no one will help us, we need to do it ourselves. So our grandparents rolled up their sleeves and we got to work. All Arabs that did not wish to run away were welcomed and are today equal and successful citizens in Israel.

The Arabs that were promised a different future by the Arab nations surrounding Israel, left and created what today is known as Palestinian refugee camps.

The Arab league started multiple wars against Israel. Regardless of which war, those who chose to flee into these camps, did it because of their own desire, and each one of these wars was started by the Arab nations surrounding Israel, with the purpose of taking over all the land and splitting it between them -- killing all Jews and Israelis along the way. This was the goal since before the UK colony gave way to the Israeli state and the potential Palestinian state.

The Israeli state was created. The Palestinians refused the option to set up their own country and instead, they set themselves up for war. A war that was set in motion by leaders who were in close contacts with Hitler and the Natzi regime. It is not surprising that in the “humanitarian aid-supported” schools in Gaza, it was Hitler’s books that were found being taught to children.

Like with the US and Canada, there was a border, and on each side, two different mentalities were being educated. The US for independence, and Canada for loyalty to the UK crown. Israel for life, and the open territories (known as Palestinian territories) -- taught death and murder.

The US and Canada have the privilege that their ideologies are not so far off, and ultimately, the two countries do desire more or less the same outcomes.

Israel was not so lucky. Its neighbours were actively working to undermine its ability to be established, and when it established itself successfully, its neighbours kept and still are doing everything in their power to erase it off the map of the middle east, and the world.

Canada allowed a culture of conflict avoidance to flourish. The people living in the open territories around Israel cultivated a culture of hate.

We need to be very clear -- there is no Palestinian territory for Israel to occupy. When they had the option to set up such a state, they refused the offer and had never established a country since.

When Israel was attacked by the Arab nations, it conquered what was open land that the UK left without anyone to rule over it. It is only Israel’s kindness that allowed the Palestinians to keep trying to create their own state -- which they have failed to do, even when they were offered, in the 1990’s, 97% of all that they wanted, including parts of the city of Jerusalem, and having Jerusalem as their capital. Their response was not one of celebration. Israel had basically said “we’ll give you everything you want, just please, lets stop this madness and have peace.”

But the response was not "wonderful, that’s practically all we ever wanted, we’ll take it!” No. Their response was an intifada -- a war of terror. And I know, because I lived through it.

My home was one of the places on the list to possibly be evicted and given in this treaty-- and we agreed to give our homes away -- we would have done everything to achieve peace. Yet they started a war of terror.

The bond between the fanatic terror organizations and the left wing is something I already witnessed in Israel, as a teenager, when the propaganda of the terror organization, masked as desiring to achieve peace, blamed the “Jewish settlers" for their lack of ability to accept any terms that were ever offered to establish a Palestinian state. I saw first hand how my reality was being twisted into lies, only to be fed like candy to the left-wing activists who are searching for an underdog to aid in their time of need. This cynical manipulation had people that should have been “on my side” to turn against me and see me as their enemy.

Not me, not my neighbours, nor our next door Arab village had anything to do with this. Yet overnight, it became unsafe for us to enter the very village we would go grocery shopping in. Where we would stop almost daily to buy something and have a quick chat with the Arab’s next door became a potential linching area. Nor us nor them had anything to do with the propaganda of hate that was being spread. The Natzi-Arab-terror ideology that was now being brainwashed into our neighbours lives was not of their doing, yet their next generations were brainwashed. “Itbach-el-Yahud” (Arabic for “slaughter the Jews”) is a call I heard multiple times each day as they preached hate through loudspeakers that were audible mountains away from their towns. They literally started brainwashing their own people to hate and kill us.

The desire of the “left-wing” groups to help the underdog, positioned them in an extremely vulnerable place. They were easy prey for the abusive and manipulative tactics of this new force of evil that was building up its strength.

Many “left-wing” Israelis had their wake up call on October 7th, 2023, when the attackers from Gaza specifically attacked villages of the very “left-wing” communities that were helping them find work in Israel, get to Israeli hospitals, to name but a few examples.

It took Israelis, from the 1990s until 2023 to be able to see this Palestinian lie clearly, and still today, some find it hard to internalize that such evil dwells just beyond our fences. It is no wonder that the entire world is having such a hard time understanding this when they have even less context and experience than Israelis who experienced this first hand.

Canada, established by the group of people that had to flee for their lives, has developed a mentality of wishing to help the underdog -- as a nation; avoiding conflicts, while helping the less fortunate ones around the world. Sounds like a lovable country. Until abusive forces of evil find their way into Canada. And they have.

Canada was primed to believe stories such as the propaganda stories of the Palestinian poor people who are only suffering. And it is true, many are suffering, yet it is not by the hands of Israel -- it is by the hands of terrorist organizations that have taken over the people, backed up by the old Arab effort of taking over the land of Israel.

The Arab league alliance is starting to fracture and more Arab countries are willing to finally recognize the right of Israel to exist. Yes -- this is still what we are fighting for, our right to exist! As this fracture in the Arab league is deepening, the distinction between the Arab countries (and people) who truly do wish to build a world of peace and those who glorify terror organisations and war is becoming clearer.

And yet, countries such as Canada still find it hard to be able to stand up for true peace. Instead of trying to do what they can to bring forth true peace and fight forces of evil and darkness spreading in their own streets. Such countries prefer to appease the very supporters of these evil actions just to be able to have the illusion of no conflict within Canada.

As the government takes this “conflict avoidance” approach, Canadian people do not speak up and do not go out of their way to help the Jewish communities who have been suffering from an amount of antisemetic attacks that is rivaling what was going on in Germany just before WW2 started.

This trend is being observed by the terror groups leaders. With each passing day of silence from the people and from the government, they will push the boundary further and further until Canada will find itself in a point of no return, when hate will no longer be directed towards Canadian Jews alone, but towards anyone that does not fall into the rules of these extreme, vocal and violent groups.

Becoming the next “Natzi Germany” sounds like an impossibility for a peace loving country like Canada, until you understand the toxic combination of conflict avoidance with abusive malevolence terror.

Before anyone says I am exaggerating, let me share how Canada has already proven that it will do nothing to truly defend its people when discrimination becomes legalised.

For the last decade, Quebec, the French province in Canada, has been legalizing discriminatory laws against two groups, with the purpose of driving certain groups of people out of the province, and Canada did nothing to help their own citizens.

Before Canada was established, both England and France sent people to start colonies in these lands. The French colonies fell into hard times when their main export back to France, the beaver hats, had gone out of fashion, and so, no more soldiers and support was sent to the French colonies, and they were eventually conquered by the English colonies. This set up the drama of Canada vs. Quebec, English vs. French, which is present till today.

The height of this internal conflict was in the 1970s, when the military was called in to manage the riots in Montreal, Quebec. And like with antisemitism, the Quebec desire to separate from English Canada, did not truly dissipate, it only shifted its course. What was an attempt to officially separate from Canada, transitioned into a long and slow process to eradicate English from Quebec, under the claim that they are trying to preserve their culture.

As any other old and rich in culture city and country can attest, preserving one’s culture should not include a “language police” nor should it be demanding to remove english signs inside hospitals, nor should it dictate to mixed communities that they are no longer allowed to have a movie festival with English films, only French.

Canada also did nothing when the government of Quebec decided that they will stop offering services in English to anyone that has lived in Quebec for more than 6 months, as if one could become fluent in a new language with such an amount of time. Yet not Canada, nor the majority of Canadians did anything about this very clearly legal discrimination.

Canadians chose to believe the conflict avoidance lie that this is not discrimination, it’s only to preserve the French heritage of Quebec -- How easily are people blinded and fooled when they wish to avoid conflict -- when they choose to not care about their neighbours.

The other time Canada did not stand up to support its citizens in Quebec was when Quebec started another set of discriminating laws, also based on a long and painful history that Quebecers have with the catholic church; a history that led many Quebecers to become anti-religion.

This set in motion the secularism vs. religion laws. According to these laws, which did have some pushback, there are limitations on headwear, jewelry, and any religious symbol in any government related position -- which includes hospitals, teachers, government offices, and more. Under the story of “we need to make sure everyone feels comfortable” these laws actually passed in Quebec, and many religious people started making plans to leave a province that so blentantly discriminates against them by law.

These two examples of how Quebec was able to get away with legalizing seriously discriminating laws, for over a decade, without any uproar from Canadians nor from the Canadian government should make all Canadians fear -- for this is a systematic problem in Canada -- and Canada is not prepared for the evil forces that are already festering in it.

Canada’s policy and legacy of conflict avoidance is placing it in the most vulnerable place to becoming a puppet in the hands of master manipulators who have one goal -- to get their way, and it is not the great north Canadian way.

This Canadian conflict avoidance in relation to the Israel-Palestinian issue is one that has been going on for too long already, and its roots go very deep within the country already.

One personal example is the fact that my Canadian passport used to say that I was born in Jerusalem, Israel. However, about a decade ago, to avoid conflict with manipulative Palestinian forces, this was changed -- according to Canada, I was no longer born in Israel.

According to Canada I am a citizen of the entire world. I was born in Jerusalem and I have no country of birth. And yet, for some strange reason, I do not get all the financial benefits that the refugees in the Palestinian territories receive from the UN.

As the official citizen of Jerusalem of the World -- I can tell you that this attempt to avoid conflict is only going to lead Canada into a much worse situation.

When we allow ourselves to roll over and bend our reality to avoid conflict with those who yell, push and threaten trouble and violence -- all we do is teach them that they can push our boundaries - and that is exactly what they will keep doing. Our boundaries and our realities will keep being pushed upon until we have no boundaries left, until we find that they have taken over it all, without our even noticing.

Israel knows its boundaries. We will not roll over and let lies spread. We will not stay silent as our neighbours preach hate. We will not roll over and let our neighbours kill us. We know that while Jerusalem should be the city of peace and light for the entire world, it will only be able to become that under Israeli rule.

We know that we work for life, light, building, peace and love, even when it’s hard, even if we push against each other, even if we are loud, even if we are rude -- we do what we need, and like our grandparents, we roll up our sleeves and we get to work; we fight for our communities, for our lives, for our right to exist. It is only crazy that countries around the world still do not understand that their not supporting our fight is only causing them to dig their own grave.

I write this from the city of my birth, Jerusalem of Israel, Jerusalem of the world -- stand with us, or suffer the consequences of your own actions. Governments and leaders who do not understand that the days of avoiding conflicts are over, are only allowing for worse conflicts to come to their towns and their own countries.

While 1812 was long ago, and 1948 seems very simple -- what is simple to see is that a leader’s choice of how to direct their people has a massive impact on their people and the entire world.

We can choose to avoid conflict, or stand strong and protect our values. We can choose to start building a country, or use our efforts to ruin someone else’s structure -- but you cannot do both.

Israel chose to build, the Arab nations chose to try to break down what we built. We won. We are still winning. We are not going anywhere. Israel and the Israeli people and the whole Jewish people have never been stronger and more committed to Israel's success, and we will keep winning.

The leaders around the world have a choice to make: help Israel build, or help others try to break us down.

Choose wisely, for those who seek to ruin what we build are only wasting efforts, resources and time, draining the entire world of funds that should be directed towards actually helping others fix this broken world.

We already have all we need, we have enough food, enough resources, enough of everything we could need -- yet those who still work towards breaking us down, joining forces against us, are manipulating all they can in the western world.

We all need to stay strong -- do not avoid conflict -- speak up -- stand up for others -- stand up for peace -- stand up for no antisemitism and discrimination in your neighbourhoods -- and demand from political leaders to not hide from their responsibilities in these pivotal moments of history.

May we all know days of peace and love. May we all find the strength we need to fight these forces of evil. May we all understand, deeply and truly, that it is up to each and every one of us to stand up and take action to make this world a better place.

The forces of evil feed off our fear -- do not be afraid, for when we all step up together, there is nothing stronger than what we can achieve. Afterall, a majority can choose to be silent and allow forces of evil to win, or the majority can choose to unit in their effort to shut down extreme groups from digging into the very systems that run our peaceful lives. Understand that avoiding conflict only leaves us all more vulnerable to the evil manipulating forces that seek to take over.

When you see that something is wrong, or if someone was wronged -- speak up, and correct what you can. The illusion that these street demonstrations and online noise is about something that is far away is a comfortable illusion we are being sold.

Take back control over the country that your ancestors worked hard to establish. Fight and be vocal to ensure that the values of democracy and peace are kept in your towns. Do not allow your neighbourhoods and cities become a battle ground for manipulative war-mongering antisemetic lies.

I grew up with “the enemy” nearby, with no borders between us. I believed we could achieve peace. I still believe we can live peacefully with our neighbors - only if we manage to stop the terror and tyrant groups that brainwash hate and the death of Jews and Israelis. The same voices that call for Intifada (a war of terror attacks) on the stress of your own country.

I am not trying to spread fear -- I am trying to wake you up to the truth, before it becomes too late. Please, do not ignore this or put this aside. Start noticing around you where and when you can speak up, question assumptions, or help those who might be suffering from discrimination around you.

It is in our power to fix this world and make it a better place.
