Butterflies of Joy

One, two, three and more,
These butterflies surround me,
They dance for my joy.
They play with each other -
Coming close then pull away;
A tease, a desire,
To play with love all through the day.
I step towards the future,
They join me on my path.
In my wake they are indulging,
A dance in air, uniting hearts.
They fly in silence, joy in their flaps.
There’s no effort in their stride,
Their bodies are the lips of heaven,
Each flap a kiss; blown away in Thy Wind.
You surround me with the dance of Your heavenly bliss,
They delight in Your air, Thy spirit is theirs.
Each butterfly a prayer --
To bring down to us Your heaven,
So I will praise You, Lord;
Lord of butterflies and playing.
Lord of beauty and joy,
For in this broken world --
You have shown me truth and joy.
